Sustane Technologies Inc. will build a $13M commercial demonstration plant at the Municipality of the District of Chester’s landfill. Slated to be open in 2016, the plant will divert 90% of the waste from the landfill and convert it into biomass pellets and recyclable materials. Sustane’s technologies separate mixed municipal waste into very high purity components including plastics, metals, glass and biomass. The project is being funded by private investment and a repayable contribution from ACOA, which was announced on April 7, 2015.
